Introducing TAXI-METER: Bangkok taxi review app (Beta tester needed).

What it does?

TAXI-METER is an iOS application (sorry Android and BB folks) that act like a small social network for Bangkok taxi commuters. After you get into a random cab, you can query for that cab’s reviews by inputing the cab’s license plate number. The most important idea is, by those reviews, you can be warned beforehand if the driver behind that wheel have some strange behavior that might concern the safety of your life or your belongings. And of cause, you can contribute to the network by posting your own review after your journey has ended.

Moreover, if you ever found yourself in an unfortunate situation and urgently need help but can not do so by simply calling someone (like if the bad guy is threaten you not to do so), TAXI-METER can help broadcasting the emergency help request through your pre-defined Facebook and Twitter account. All it need is just one button click, the emergency message will be broadcast repeatedly together with your current position to ensure that help is coming your way ASAP.

How can you help?

What I really need right now is the testers. TAXI-METER is still in it’s beta version which mean there’re still a lot of bugs. The more testers we have, the more bugs will be potentially found and ironed out before the app actually go live. I also need feedback on usability. The idea is to make the app convenient to use as possible, and I need you to tell me what is need to be changed to achieve that.

What you need to do to be a tester?

Here are the procedures.
1. First, I need your UDID number. To get UDID, you need to connect your iOS device with computer and open iTunes. In iTunes, go to your device’s Summary page. Click on the “Serial Number” line, it should change to “Indentifer (UDID)”. Copy all the letter.

2. Send UDID to masakasoft@gmail.com with subject “TAXI-METER testing”

3. I’ll send you back an application file (TAXI-METER.ipa). All you need to do is drag this file into your iTunes window, sync you iOS device with iTunes and TAXI-METER app will be installed.

4. If you find any bugs or have any recommendation to make, just send that information to masakasoft@gmail.com . I’ll take a look as soon as possible.

Thank you all! :)

Excellent idea! I’m not in a position to beta it, but will surely buy it for the wife and daughter as soon as it’s available. Apart from posting a crisis event on Facebook and Twitter, have you thought of working with Jor Sor 100 or even the Police to have the app send a data string in the background to a dedicated SMS number for quicker intervention?
